With Election 2012 officially wrapped up, Buffalo News in New York now has their eyes set on 2016. The northern New York newspaper has already endorsed Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the 2016 election.

In an opinion column titled ‘Clinton has the leadership to be president,’ the newspaper says that it is “not too early to be thinking about who would make an excellent candidate for the presidency in 2016 - particularly if there is a conspicuously capable individual already on the political scene.”

The column goes on to the give newly re-elected Barack Obama a slight knock, saying of Clinton, “She would bring vastly more leadership, experience and judgment to the White House, compared with its current occupant.”

The column goes on to say, “She not only knows the right thing to do, she also knows how to do it.”

Clinton will be stepping down from her role as Secretary of State soon, and has claimed to have no interest in another presidential run after having been defeated by Obama for the candidacy in 2008.

However, the newspaper is hopeful that Clinton may reconsider, “After some time to rest and reflect, however, she may find renewed fire to pursue unfinished business.”

Husband Bill’s “persuasiveness” could play a factor, as well.

The column concludes, “For the country’s sake, and because she clearly is the best candidate, we hope the competing factions in national Democratic politics will coalesce to make her the nominee.”
