Henrik Ulven, a Ryanair passenger traveling from Berlin to Oslo, was arrested on Tuesday after complaining about the poor quality of his chicken sandwich.

Upon arrival at the Rygge Airport in Norway, police detained the 52-year-old man from Oslo because the crew complained he had become disruptive.

Ulven said he merely asked for a refund after he bought the $5.80 sandwich and was shocked to be arrested.

"I first ordered a hot meal which they didn't have and then I asked for a second hot meal which they didn't have either,” he told the Irish Independent.

"I asked the girl what they actually had and I ordered a 'chicken premium sandwich', which cost €4.50 and was supposed to have been 'freshly made'. My money was in my jacket in the overhead locker so I told her I would pay her when I was able to get up again.

"The sandwich looked nice and healthy but when I tasted it, it was soft and rubbery and nothing at all like it looked in the photo. I called the girl and said I was not paying for that."

Ulven said the stewardess then told him she would have to report him to the authorities.

Michael for President of Ireland. It beats me how people dare to complain when their average Fare would probably only pay for two minutes flying time...if that. If you want to be treated like a king - pay a kings ransom! .............But seriously, I think these complainers are just trying to come to terms with the low self-esteem and worth they inflict upon themselves by allowing themselves to fly 'cheapo'. Forget that! Try to remember how far you would have travelled on ground transport for the money you paid!
Michael O'Leary is always right. You're getting where you're going for next to nothing. Ryanair is not a flying gourmet restaurant. Bring your own sandwiches, toilet paper etc. Cheap flights are what Michael offers and cheap flights are what you get. Most people who fly today would never have been able to see the inside of an airplane only for Michael. St. Michael of the Airways ABú.
Just one more reason not to fly on this airline.
Nelsonbarry--RyanAir the "joke of the sky"? What a crazy remark. They're the most successful airline in the world. Where have you been for the past ten years?
Nothing surprises me about Ryanair! They are the Joke of the Sky.
He should have done what I did; I ate the whole thing then asked for a barf bag,... when I finished up, I handed it back in a bag. I was polite and they were glad to let me go! including the surrounding passengers
I guess he did not think about the consequences of his actions.
Airlines are good--most of the time--at one thing--flying airplanes. Everything else is a gamble, whereas customer service simply doesn't exist. Bring back the trains in America, I say, and the sooner the better. As for the person who can't handle the smell of onions, which I love,I offer the thought: imagine what it was like when I was travelling on a plane in a part of the world where local people were cooking, yes cooking, their meals on their own little stoves set up their seat tables. Now that was an experience. But onions...come on!
RIP Hurricane Higgins. No news on this yet on Irish Central? Surprises me...
The problem about people bringing their own food is that it can be very discourteous to other passengers. I don't know how often I've been stuck near someone eating onions and/or garlic and beef etc. I'm a vegetarian, and I don't like the stink of meat. Why should I be stuck beside this in captivity for hours? And then if you wait half an hour, the product of that stinking food comes stinking out at the other end. And there's no window I can open! I say ban food on airlines, just like tobacco is banned.
P.S. Of course you first have to get past the TSA people here in the U.S., they always try to tell me I cannot bring food onto the plane, nor an empty water bottle which I fill at the fountain after clearing security. Stand your ground and ask for the supervisor. Food in plastic see thru containers or plastic wrap IS allowed and so are empty water bottles.
I travel frequently and NEVER buy airline food. They are in the transportation business, not the food or catering business. If you think it is necessary for you to have food while on a flight, then bring your own food. The only thing I would ever ask for while in air is water.
About time someone complained got media attention - you don't get what you pay for or exepct where you pay for food on airlines, looks NOTHING like the photo, tastes like artificial food, not even fit for a compost heap - and the prics ..... well, don't go there!!!!! Bring your own sandwich....
