The only known photograph of President John F. Kennedy with Marilyn Monroe is to be released today.

"There is no other known photo of Bobby (Kennedy) with Marilyn or JFK with Marilyn and it's not because they were never photographed together,"  filmmaker Keya Morgan, who owns the only original prints of it, told CNN.

"In fact, they were photographed together many times, but the Secret Service and the FBI confiscated every single photograph."

The photo was taken by White House photographer Cecil Stoughton, who said the Secret Service missed one photo.

"The Secret Service came in when he was developing the negatives and basically confiscated all the ones of Jack, Bobby with Marilyn," Morgan said.

"The only one that survived is the one that was in the dryer."

The photo occurred after Marilyn Monroe's sexy rendition of "Happy Birthday," sung for President John F. Kennedy's 45th birthday celebration.  It was widely rumored the two were having an affair.

It marked the actress's last major public appearance before her mysterious death in August 1962.

President Kennedy appears to be turning away from the camera, something he rarely did, while his brother, the U.S. Attorney General, looks toward them.

Historian Arthur Schlesinger Jr., is seen in the photo holding a drink and cigar. He later wrote about it .

"The image of this exquisite, beguiling and desperate girl will always stay with me," Schlesinger wrote.

"I do not think I have seen anyone so beautiful; I was enchanted by her manner and her wit, at once so masked, so ingenuous and so penetrating.

"Bobby Kennedy and I engaged in mock competition for her; she was most agreeable to him and pleasant to me, but one never felt her to be wholly engaged," Schlesinger wrote in a passage included in his book "Journals: 1952-2000."

The photographer, Cecil Stoughton, said Jackie Kennedy refused to attend the birthday party because Marilyn Monroe was there.

"He's the one who told Jackie that Marilyn was going to be at the celebration, and her exact words were 'Screw Jack,' and she left the room and she did not go to the famous celebration," Morgan said.

b24bomber - A corporate executive? Gads, I wouldn't admit it! They have been the worst crooks in this country since Al Capone and his boys! Name one American President who "had nothing to hide" and is a "family guy!" You've got to be kidding!
Why try to muddy the names and reputations of dead people? They were all giants and much better at doing what they did than any of the wanna bes since they were alive. The Kennedy brothers Jack amd Bobby may have been the last best hope for the USA. Marilyn Monroes shoes have yet to be filled. Jackie Kennedy was always a lady.
Irish Central, you really DO look foolish publishing this picture. It's been around and seen for the last 40 years. Better researching needed.
V. entertaining!
This is not a never before seen, never published photo. It appears in the Life magazine commerative ssue "Remembering Marilyn), July 14, 2009, p. 120.
What do you mean, "released today?" This photo was published--uncropped and in much higher resolution--in the 1992 Dutton book MARILYN: The LAST TAKE by Brown and Barham. It's hardly news.
Yo, folleygirl, would you think the same thing if Bush was an alcoholic, womanizer... duh!? As a corporate executive, I only trusted those who proved they had nothing to hide, were "family guys," & said what they meant & meant what they said, ie, they were honest!
This is not new NEWS, everyone, including Jackie new about her husband and his affairs, wink , wink, that had nothing to do with him being a great President, his infidelity to his wife is between them, no one else, to her and his kids he was responsible for in that context, him trying to be the best President had nothing to do with this, so why after ALL these years must this be an issue???????
I think as humans we all make mistakes in judgement but those mistakes are our own. It has always bothered me on how much pleasure the media intakes from others struggles. I personally look at the positives these people embarked on our lives and let them lie in peaceful rest. How fortunate I am to be a no-body, a simple neighbor that is not watched by the media in every move I make. How we simple individuals have life so wonderful.
What's JFK looking at?
