A nine-year-old Michigan boy has asked his mother to stop his painful treatments after battling brain disease for five years.

Ryan Kennedy, from Clarkston, was diagnosed with ependymoma when he was four-years-old. Since then he has undergone seven surgeries, two rounds of radiation, and four different kinds of chemo. The young boy decided in February that he had had enough when scans showed the tumors in his head had doubled in size since November.

His mother, Kimberly Morris-Karp, told the Oakland Press, “When I told him about it, he said, "No! I told you Mom, I don’t want to do anything anymore." He literally just screamed and cried, in hysterics, saying, "I’m done. I’m done with this."'

Speaking to CNN she added, “He just decided he didn’t want to take any more pills [and] he didn’t want any more surgery because it hurt. He just wanted to live the rest of his life.”

Since this news has come out, Kennedy has been receiving support from big stars such as Kim Kardashian and Britney Spears after his story went viral on Twitter. Kennedy’s friends at Clarkston’s North Sashabaw Elementary School said it was one of his dying wishes to trend on Twitter.

However, Kennedy’s mom said her nine-year-old son never said any such thing, but he was deeply touched by the support.

Morris-Karp said, “Ryan really wasn’t the one who wanted to trend on Twitter - he’s nine - he doesn’t have a twitter account. He really didn’t even know what Twitter was.’

When he read Britney Spear’s message Kennedy cried. He said, “You know, Mommy, this really touches my heart, that so many people are out there Tweeting, and caring about me,” his mother told the press.
His mother says that what Kennedy really wants to do as his dying wish is to raise funds and awareness about brain cancer so research can be carried out into these deadly diseases.
 
She said, “Ryan is doing pretty good at this point. He is holding his own, he’s sleeping most of the time but he has very cognitive, clear moments at times where he communicates very well with us. But he’s just hanging in there.”
