The trial of Irish nanny Aisling Brady McCarthy, who was charged in the 2013 death of one-year-old Rehma Sabir, has been postponed until April.

The Boston Herald reports that Judge Maureen Hogan moved the trial date from late January to April 22 to give defense lawyers more time to test organ and fluid samples from the body of the dead child.

The Co. Cavan nanny was a caretaker for Sabir for six months in Cambridge, MA. Prosecutors says she assaulted the baby by violently shaking her, resulting in fatal head trauma.

Lawyers for McCarthy, who is being held without bail on a first-degree murder charge, dispute the medical findings that the child died from abusive head trauma and claim that specialists did not consider other possibilities for the child’s cause of death.
