An Irish incest couple, who never knew they shared the same father when they met, plan to get married later this month.

They already have a child together after meeting in a nightclub and falling in love.

The man known only as James, never knew his real biological father and says he was prevented from finding out by authorities.

"The way I see it, if the system can know about things and hide the facts, then I can do the same — they turned a blind eye and so can we," the man, told the Irish Mail.

It is forbidden in Irish law for siblings to marry each other.

"People can criticize and say it is not right, but they should say the same about what was done to me in the family law courts."James said.

He  revealed his long struggle to find out who his father was, which was only resolved when he and his wife became suspicious and took a DNA test.

I am very much opposed to incest but if homosexual couples are allowed to marry, maybe this couple that have already produced a child should also be allowed to tie the knot.
They can move to the redneck baptist states in the USA and fit right in with the Uncle-daddies
This happens when people go around mating like animals. In Biblical times, half brothers, half sisters and cousins married to keep the blood and religion pure, and fortunes intact. The major problem is that genes are intensified and birth defects are prevalent. When I was a child, I saw an entire family of mongoloid kids; my father said that the parents were first cousins.
Think it is a Brotherly love LOL
Well they can certainly fit right in with the American South
A lot of hide bound characters on this site who are far too narrow minded to be Irish. My Mayo mother's family had instances of first cousins marrying first cousins as in the case of her mother and father. In an age when travel was measured in days not hours, your choice of partners was severely limited. To best the best of my knowledge, I don't have any six fingered relatives.
Canadianpat...you dont seem to understand that this is not a case of : cheating, one night stand, or even recreational sex. They want to get married and they already have a child...which this article does not say whether or not has any congenital problems...actually children of siblings do have a higher chance of birth defects...but it is not that much higher than for the regular population!
Dublinjas. The UK Royal family breed with closerelatives.
this is what happens when you bend the rules of GODS laws .there are great odds in the favor of this happening alot in later years to come because of the way we are covering up and hiding things these days.it was said that this man or boy tried to find out where his relations came from and was denied that imformation, i think the intrusion of goverment into the laws set up for family are the problem here and they are to blame.
Since they fell in love before they found out they were closely related,I wish them luck on their wedding day and maybe it might be wise to adopt rather then take the risk of having babies born with abnormalities.
What separates us from the beasts in the field is the fact that we do not breed with our close relatives.
They may have the same father but they apparently have different mothers. I wish them luck and happiness.
Incest is a game the family can play.
I hope they don't ask the Irish taxpayer to pay for medical care for any sickly children they may have.
Stranger things have happened. Something similar has happened here in the U.S. Although I don't think a marriage took place. Hey, "Love as thou wilt".
