Ireland ice age continues with big freeze - SEE PHOTOS

We are in Michigan; Cold here evry winter. It's great! Skiing, snowmobiling, sleding... Oh well; it's been that way for at least the last 66 winters that I know of. Have fun; be safe; summer will return unless evil Insane Hussein 'change's that too! Wish he'd move to Iceland w/o his coat!

For heavens sake it is only snow. How in the world did global warming, etc. come in to the discussion? Buffalo, NY is having a banner year with snow- but they always do. Many spots around the world are having snow- it is December, it happens. Calling it an Irish ice age- come on! Are there now glaciers forming in Ireland?

I think all these replies have generated enough heat to melt all the snow in Ireland!!!

@Porickseantuny - that's why I wouldn't DARE propose a general rule. What I can prove - and anyone can prove with photos - is that there are huge 'continents' of plastic trash floating in the ocean, killing wildlife and decomposing to poison the water. No one knows how to remove it, but the oceans are an important food source. Recycling is almost a joke. It may make people feel good, but it isn't stopping this massive destruction. And I can prove that agricultural runoff caused by bad agricultural practices, is causing many large dead zones in the ocean, and as one fisherman put it, what if three states in the US became completely infertile - nothing could grow in the soil? I can also prove that we are hunting the major food fish to extinction. Notice, I am not going to even mention the animals that we are driving out of existence. I believe there is little real sympathy for them. We might say aww too bad if all the polar bears are gone, but it doesn't threaten our survival. Of course, as we reduce the variety of species on the earth, we will eventually get to a point where our own is threatened. Probably the crucial animal will be frogs or some other thing we don't really love much. Whether the earth heats or cools, whether it's the fault of sunspots or fossil fuels, we are STILL destroying the damn planet and all this sterile banter on statistics obscures the truth about our trashing of the environment. We are arguing about the # of snowflakes, when we are contaminating our water with gender-bending chemicals.

For everyone who is confused, people keep mistaking 'climate' for 'weather.' A climate change is a much more vast situation, which makes weather swing more wildly. For instance, we don't get MORE hurricanes because the ocean is heating up. The hurricanes are much stronger, because warmer ocean water is their fuel. Global warming does not mean we won't get snowstorms. It means the snowstorms will be fiercer. Indeed there was snow in James Joyce's day. The temperature, however, didn't plunge so low, and certainly not for such an extented time.. And just for the record. 2010 will go down as the hottest year in the history of consistently recorded weather.

One who proposes a general rule (global warming) must explain exceptions to the rule, e.g. unusually cold winters. "Pooh, pooh" is not an explanation. Thus does the exception prove (test) the rule. One hundred years of temperature readings globally is "a pimple on an elephant's ass" as far as measurement against which to measure climate change. The general rule proposed is not proven true.

Even if the climate change deniers are right, human beings are destroying the only planet they can live on, and the cause of that destruction is EXACTLY the same as the supposed cause of climate change: reckless disregard for the protection of the earth, overuse of fossil fuels, overpopulation, and stupidity and greed. We might be able to do something about the first three, but greed and stupidity may damn us at last.

Yeah running the stupid gob is indemic to this site. Take a minute and feed your stupid little minds with some Irish lit. One thing we can be proud of: "Snow was general all over Ireland. Especially the photos from Donegal and Antrim look like outside my house in America! Wow! But that is 'normal' for us. If you look at global warming forecasts, Ireland probably won't be warmed by the Gulf Stream much and this will become "good" weather in the future. Word to the Wise: buy those warm boots. Someday you may want them during the summer too!

I see some more 'brilliant' comments concerning the 'scam" about global warming. Again current weather (what is happening NOW) versus climate (long term trends with weather)appears to be something the other comments made here do not seem to understand to say the least. I suppose Fox news is going on about this also now? Anyone who pays attention to climate change understands that extreme weather patterns in the world is part of global warming. Is there any hope for some intelligent comments here on this issue here versus irrational rants people are making?

Imagine that. There's severe winter weather in Ireland and some learned individual is off and running his gob about how terribly wrong Al Gore is about global warming. I suppose Gore only imagined that the glaciers in Chile, Greenland, Canada and Antartica are retreating and melting, and that ocean temperatures worldwide are rising, while tropical beaches are being eroded and drowned, and spring comes earlier and earlier to many parts of the world. Gore must have imagined that researchers from a vast array of disciplines have produced voluminous evidence of global warming. Aye, poor Al is so terribly delusional. He should be listening intently to those folks who haven't a clue.

Damn that Al Gore and his global warming! Send money to him right away and he will make it all better. In other words, support a scam disputed by the majority of the world's leading climatologists so Al can stop suffering as a mere multi-millionaire and become a Billionaire. After all, he is not making any profit at all from the Internet, which he invented. All this from a low-grade moron who somehow managed to flunk out of Divinity School!
