Husband of Irish NY lottery winner Patricia Eisel misses out

Friends say he moved out on mother of 3, has a new romance

Patricia Daly Eisel was shattered when she and her husband Jamie Eisel split last year, but after the mother of three won $21.5m on the New York State Lottery, it may be his turn to cry.

Jamie Eisel, an ironworker and part-time bartender, continues to live near his 40-year-old wife and children in Long Beach, New York, but has moved on to a new romance.

The question is whether he is likely to try laying claim to Patricia’s winnings.
‘They’re still good friends,’ said a neighbor.

‘They share the kids between them. As far as I know, it’s all very amicable.’

‘He left her,’ said a Tullamore resident who knows the family. ‘It will be interesting now to see if he will go and seek a share of the win.’

Meanwhile Trisha, as she is called, took a break from her job at The Saloon bar and spent this weekend celebrating her good fortune with her family in Tullamore.

She booked the best suite in the local hotel to celebrate.

She only won the jackpot because her flight home to Ireland had been canceled due to the severe weather before Christmas, so she was in New York to buy the lottery ticket that won her $21,500,000.

About the difference her new found fortune will make to her life, she told the Daily Mail: ‘I have been in America since ’95. I babysat at first and right now I live in Long Beach. I waitress and bar-tend and mind kids.

‘It’s a struggle to keep it all together but it’s good – the bar’s good where I work. But this is going to make it a lot better.’

She has sworn ‘to keep life normal, no big purchases’. She even said she’d keep working ‘for a while.’

Hi Ourselves Alone. Sorry you are completely wrong.Under the Hague Convention a judgement in any jurisdiction is enforceable in any other jurisdiction. As long as one of the parties is Irish proceedings can be commenced in Ireland and are enforceable in the US and vice versa. My reading is that he walked out but they are not divorced. If they are actually divorced he can seek a property adjustment order in Ireland which is enforceable everywhere-there was a case two years ago where a woman in Ireland was arrested, even though she lived in Ireland, because she was divorced in the US and disobeyed a US court order. She was to be extradited but common sense prevailed and a deal was done. Its usually very unfair on the men but in this case its the woman who suffers-thats the luck of the draw

I think he definitely will go after HER money but I would keep him in court for the next 30 yrs. For whatever reason he left, decided to have a life without her, so goodbye and good luck, he does not deserve anything.

Everyone is assuming here that she is a saint and that he isn't but we cannot just assume that. Just because she is Irish and he American, doesn't mean that she is automatically a good person and he bad. None of us here know the circumstances of their situation. From what I heard, they are not even divorced yet. Let's not assume anything here. I bet there is more to this story than what meets the irish eyes!

@seanskelligs He is American, they met, married and divorced (I assume and hope for her sake, otherwise he would have a claim to the winnings)in New York, so Irish law is irrelevant in this instance. Regardless, Irish law and any judgment thereunder is unenforceable in the US as we tend to value OUR SOVEREIGNTY and don't cede to the edicts of Brussels like the Irish republic today.

The way I read this is that they are divorced in NY not Ireland so he has no right to anything unless he is a vulture then that is a horse of a different color.
