Dublin set to play host to first ever Irish sex festival

Ireland will play host to its first sex festival next month, which will discuss and explore sexual health and freedom.

The one day ‘Bliss Festival’ will take place in Dublin and will host talks on relationships, yoga, spiritual speed dating and BDSM (bondage, domination, sadism and masochism).

The festival will also offer workshops or ‘playshops’, on topics such as Tantra massage,  “An Introduction to Kink!”.

Beth Wallace, the festival organizer, told the Journal.ie that although Irish attitudes toward sex have changed dramatically over the last few decades, “there is still a way to go in terms of full sexual freedom and access to full sexual health services”.

The organizer added that Ireland is “ready for a festival about sex, that maturely looks at the subject holistically in terms of the mind, the body and the spirit”.

jacersagain.So as a fallible human being you have decided to be judge and jury on what you think is worthy of esteem or respect.You have decided what is dignified when it comes to human sexual behavior between two consenting adults.Anything less than what you consider moral is cruel and inhumane which is the definition of abuse.I'm afraid I don't agree at all.

@ Sirpeter – sorry, but there is nothing to disappoint in making human dignity a cornerstone of love-making. Anything less is violent abuse, I'm sure you'll agree.

One more point ciara – your language towards many other posters does not show human dignity towards them. That says a lot about you. I frequently and pointedly ignore undignified name-calling comments by posters, so if I ignore yours in future, you’ll know why. On your current level of postings, under this article and others, you deserve to be ignored.

@ciaradexy – I can assure you I am neither old nor a fart although, like you, I do. Adults consenting to engage in abusive sexual acts upon each other lower themselves to aggressive animal behaviour and therefore lower themselves beneath human dignity. Consenting to such acts does not make it right, and well you should know that. My wife and I made and raised a happy family, so it’s not for you to assume that I don’t know what I’m talking about and I can assure you that I know what true love-making is all about. Now repeat, every time you have sex – “My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. I must not defile my body, this Holy temple.” Remember to say that every time. “My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.”

jacersagain.Very disappointing post from you.In no way do I condone anybody getting hurt in this kind of sexual behavior.Some people find BDSM difficult to understand.I merely tried to post the psychological reasons behind it.If this is about common sense and immorality.I think with that attitude both of ye must be homophobic as well.People have the right to practice being human beings so long as it doesn't hurt anyone.I'd at least wouldn't judge people on that.

Child abuse has always been a roaring topic on ICentral. Everybody hates it and rightfully vents their anger about it. Statistics show that abused children go on to be abusers themselves. Yet people like ciaradexy, sirp and Heather911 think it is ok to engage in abusive bodily and sexual behaviour so long as it’s between consenting adults in darkened rooms? Seriously?? These kinds of posts are written by people too far influenced by gutter press, liberal morality magazines and web pronography - and not enough or not at all by human dignity for one's self or the other person. Sickening selfishness, that. Searlit is the only one making common sense in this debate.

If you want to spank me, at least pull my hair. What ever pleasures a couple decides to conduct in their own bed is completely their right. If you are not invited or engaged in the practice, what does it to concern you? As someone said, to each their own. No one is forcing these couples to do anything against their will. Big Deal!
