Failed businessman Sean Quinn Jnr was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly on a train on Sunday – just months after his release from Mountjoy Prison.

The son of bankrupt billionaire Sean Quinn Snr is alleged to have been drunk and to have caused a disturbance on the train.

Quinn was handcuffed and taken from the Wesport to Dublin train by police officers, according to a report in the Irish Sun.

The paper says the driver on the train called police to report an unruly passenger on board the 3.15pm service to Heuston Station.

The report adds that it is believed that Quinn had been drinking and that there was a complaint about his behaviour.

Police boarded the train when it arrived at Tullamore station in County Offaly.

They found Quinn near the toilet area and brought him to the local station where he was quizzed about the matter but was not charged.

A police spokesman confirmed: “Gardai (police) were called after a disturbance was reported on a train.

“A man was arrested and detained for a short period of time and subsequently released.”

The paper adds that the ‘adult caution’ mechanism, where officers warn a person about their behaviour without leading to a full criminal investigation, is being applied in the case.

It is understood that Quinn made alternative arrangements to return to his Dublin home after his release from custody.

Reports also suggest he has since contacted police to apologize.

He served a three-month jail term last year for contempt over his family’s ongoing legal fight with IBRC.
