A divorced Irish mother of two has turned to YouTube in a final ditch attempt to sell her palatial country home in a bid to live “happily ever after”.

Jillian Godsil, has launched an online campaign to promote her eight-bedroom home which is known as Raheengraney House.

"I have received emails from people wishing me all the best and saying well done," she said.

"Divorce and losing the family home, which was my dream home, is very tough so it's nice to know people are behind me and my two kids. But emails that are looking to view the house will be even nicer."

The house is currently on the market for half a million euro, when asked if the single mother would settle for less she said: "I honestly don't know, we are sailing in uncharted economic waters. Four years ago I had a marriage, a good income, a business and now my whole life is turned upside down."

She added: "I'm already in [financial] trouble -- my tenants moved out in January. It's tough being a single mum with kids, very tough."

The large home is located in a village of Shillelagh, Co. Wicklow and also has a three-bed cottage attached to its grounds, as well as two acres of land.

Her YouTube video was posted by Godsil last week and has already clocked up more than 2,500 views.

The writer told the Herald newspaper that her home was in negative equity. She purchased the large home in the later 1990’s and paid £100,000 for the spacious property. She then spent €400,000 on a massive renovation of the building.

"When the marriage broke down we were relatively comfortable with a great property abroad too," Godsil told the Herald. "But we had to sell the foreign house in the separation and it went mostly on the legal fees for the divorce.

"So we were very unlucky -- effectively we went from having a positive equity in both our properties to me being in negative equity in the large house."

"It's nice because it's one of those houses in the middle of a town land which planners don't allow anymore... It has the most beautiful views of Mount Leinster and the surrounding area."

After getting divorced from her husband she tried to sell the Wicklow home, but after a generous offer fell through, she received no other firm bids.

"So I asked myself how will I sell this, and the idea of trying to get it all over the Internet came into my mind."

Irish problem #10013 = Irish society is rife with unwed mothers.......WHY?......Because they collect about 4-different entitlements like single parent allowence (says parent, but forget it lads it's ladies only).....Housing allowence....Child benefit allowence...etc!........A single 18 year old with a couple of rug rats collects more off the government than she could make by working 40 hours per week at minimum wage.......... Ireland's paradise when you know how to milk the system And everyone knows how!
Georgy boy..There would be nothing to lower the price of a property more then to have you living anywhere near it. Every state in the USA you move to there is a slump in house prices.
A bit rich , 500k for this, too much I say for the working class people in a broken statlet.
im sure there is a knacker halting site next to this, good buy if you like listening to Elvis music and watching bare knuckle boxing, screw you Dillon you Pikey
Lovely house. I would love to buy it and turn it in to a B&B. I also need to win the lottery.
Does the house look like the top photo or the bottom photo? If it is the bottom photo, boy, it needs a good paint job. Good luck anyway. Down-grade to a smaller home and there are plenty in Ireland and I am sure you and the children will be very happy.
sirpeter: Stop spouting your lousy racist bile here. People are trying to have a civilized dialog. That rules racists like you OUT.
€500,000..Sounds like a good deal. She did it up nice. Is there a halting site next to it i wonder lol.
Sounds too cheap for the pictures say its worth a lot more...What's the catch?
With eight bedrooms and just two kids she might subconsciously be yearning for six more.I am available Friday.
Even in a recession, that house is good value for €500,000 or approximately $725,000
a landed gentry of merry o - i wonder how the others fare. their queen's acoming she might invite her to home from whence to sell mugs and such for her pope and grandson's wedding of another century.
Just as soon as I win the California lottery.......
