The mask was purchased with a winning bid of $999,900

An eBay customer has paid almost $1 million to for a Casey Anthony rubber mask.

Described by the seller as “a significant piece of crime history” the mask was purchased with a winning bid of $999,900 last Wednesday, beating another 104 bids, the first started at $25.

The online seller called “prophunter” is based in LA and ended up with six rubber face masks of Anthony’s face that had been used in a parody video and put one of them on sale on eBay.

Listed on the popular auction website the product description read: "possibly the most frightening mask on the planet."

It states: “Halloween is only a few months away. I don't know what is more scary -- the mask, or the fact that so many people believed the buyer would pay this amount. Everyone needs to slow down, pay attention to what they read...and stop to think every now and then.

Sorry if I was less than clear in my earlier comment. The seller feedback on this auction was provided by the "buyer" who just made up the million-dollar bid and "pranked" the seller. The buyer is not paying for the item. The seller has already re-listed the mask. Forget about $1 million; anyone who would pay >$99 for a Halloween mask of anyone is out of their mind.

Read the seller feedback, folks. It's a joke. Buyer told seller he should be ashamed of himself. Nobody bought the mask; it's been re-listed.

Yes, it's so sick and despicable; people profiting off of and getting attention from this tragedy!!! Like the sickos who lined up around the block to get into that courthouse everyday! And the scumbags who made and are now selling these latex Halloween masks, and especially the freaks who bought them. Or the "news" channels making millions from ad revenue by featuring and following this awful, sad story: CNN and NBC and Fox; and those "talking heads" like the women on The View and that shrill harpy Nancy Grace, and their outrage and anger and paychecks, as they covered this story day after day, hour after hour, in every last lurid and tedious detail. And people couldn't get enough, they ate it up!! Just as one of those "pundits" in the video above said, "it's capitalism." Really, it's just supply and demand, but it's feeding people what they want to hear. And once the "controversy" of the trial was over... THANK GOD! something else came along so that this story could be milked for just FIVE MORE MINUTES! So that these "analysts" could have just one more damn thing to talk about, so they could continue to justify their jobs and their very existence and not have to go out and get real jobs. Really, what's the difference?

I am proud to be an American but the system failed miserably this time. What company in it's right mind would try and profit off of this woman's image? There's a line that should not be crossed no matter what the profit margin is.
