U2 star Bono briefs President Obama on Africa visit

Bono met President Barack Obama on Friday

Bono was in Washington on Friday and visited the White House to meet President Obama to fill him in on his recent trip to Africa.

It appears the meeting was not on Obama’s official itinerary for the day, but a National Security spokesman told CNN what the two talked about.

"[They discussed] ways to make sure our foreign aid is effective, and the opportunities for innovation and technology to change the development landscape in Africa,” he said.

The Bono-founded charity organization ONE released a statement about the visit, in which the U2 front man went over some of the issues discussed.

"With the first Blackberry president, we discussed the power of new technology to empower activists and entrepreneurs across Africa, part of a new rising generation that's boosting growth and governance and defying stereotypes,” read the statement.

Become a pop idol and suddenly your an expert on world events.plastic Irish Bono what a dill.
Advocate: " We the SHEEPle of America cannot afford 'foreign aid' any longer! ..." >>> But you see, that's how the whole "foreign aid" thingy works. USA / State Department ponies up US$ Billions to the third world, the funds buy food and fuel and tennies and music videos from Nike / Arthur Daniels Midland / Conoco-Phillips / LA Times / GE / military-industrial complex ... the food and goods and meds get used up, the vigorish on the loans and gifts prop up the dictators and the opposition ... the music goes round and round ... and the jobs are created here, there and everywhere. These are really the only US$ Dollar transactions that our g'ment does that incorporates private enterprise, world wide = This is good, this is beneficial to capitalism and this helps feed millions of the poor and rich alike. This is the only true corporate welfare program that is good for just about everybody ... No kidding.
Very funny hyattsville!
