An Irish school-goer provoked a worldwide alert when he attempted to hack into the Microsoft X-Box system, it has been reported.

The 14-year-old from Tallaght in Dublin hacked the popular online game Modern Warfare 2 resulting in an alert been issued to millions of computer users.

Microsoft bosses were concerned that sensitive information about Microsoft’s customers were jeopardised after the incident.

The news emerged when the General Manager of Microsoft in Ireland, Paul Rellis delivered his key note address during Bank of Ireland Business Week.

Rellis revealed that Microsoft planned to work with the Dublin teenager to develop his talent for legitimate purposes.

When the hack occurred it was feared it was a follow up on the theft of personal details of some 77 million users.

Well this is clearly how the police should recruit their officers and who better to take over the asylum? Thank you Microsoft for showing that hard work, a firm grasp of ethics and excellent SAT scores mean nothing if you just nip down to the electronic equivalent of the Microsoft offices and lob a digital brick through their virtual window. "Hey! That's genius. Come in and be the VP for glazing." Ridiculous.

Smart lad,he even managed to swing Microsoft into sending him to college,that's the plan from Ireland,s gm of Microsoft,love the irony keeping,him out of trouble by getting him to come and work for them,well done.

'Hacking' should have an automatic penalty / sentence so very severe that no one would dare! At the very least this CrimeScumBag should NEVER see a computer again in his entire life! He knew this was wrong; where's his parents? At 14, THEY need to be horsewhipped...
