The search is on for Ireland’s newest multi-millionaire – after one lucky ticket scooped over $111 million in Friday night’s Euromillions draw.

The owner of the lucky ticket, the fourth biggest Irish win in the Euromillions lotto, has yet to come forward.
Ireland’s lottery commissioners say they know where the ticket was bought.

But they want to give the winner time to come to terms with their new fortune before releasing any further information.

The winning numbers were 6, 8, 34, 38, 48 and the Lucky Stars were 3 and 9.

The National Lottery announced on its website: “There was one winner of the EuroMillions Jackpot.

“The winning ticket was sold in Ireland.”

The biggest ever Irish winner was Limerick woman Dolores McNamara who pocketed over $150 million in July 2005.

EuroMillions is played in Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the UK but Ireland accounts for just 2.4 per cent of total jackpot winners to-date according to the Irish Times.

Almost a billion dollars has now been won by Irish EuroMillions players to almost €650million since the game launched in 2004.

The jackpot has been won in Ireland six times.
