Why Robert Pattinson is no George Clooney

Rob Pattinson plays at vampires, making the same movie over and over.

Comparing George Clooney and Robert Pattinson is like comparing Miley Cyrus and Meryl Streep. One is this year's fad, the other is a great star in a business where few can match them.

Yet the comparisons are being made. Actress Anna Kendrick has worked with both leading men, Robert Pattinson and George Clooney, in the past year. She set off a minor rivalry between the two when she discovered, she says, that they were a little jealous of each other.

"George gave me such a hard time about shooting ‘Twilight.’ Whenever I came back, it was like, 'Oh, sorry, this isn't the ‘Twilight’ set. You're not working with Mr. Handsome,” she told Ellen De Generes.

When Pattinson heard George seemed a little jealous, he autographed his GQ cover for George and wrote "To George: Best of Luck. Hang in there. Love, Rob."

But let's be honest. There is no comparison. Irish-American Clooney is a leading man straight from the Hollywood playbook. He is our modern era Clarke Gable, handsome, suave, debonair and – yes, he can act.

Pattinson, on the other hand, plays at vampires, making the same movie over and over, or he is a leading man in silly romantic comedies like “Remember Me,” which is coming out shortly.

Have you seen Clooney in “Good night and Good Luck,” the story of ace reporter Edward Murrow who brought down the great witch hunter Joe McCarthy? Clooney's directing was sublime, caught Murrow to a T and you actually forgot how good looking he is.

In his latest movie “Up in the Air” Clooney is again magnificent, and by all accounts, definite Oscar material.

As for Pattinson? Well, the buzz is he will get a Razzie for worst actor in “Twilight” this year. His Oscar prospects are probably confined to his acting skills in pretending he was nearly run down by a taxi in New York last year.

I can't imagine George Clooney is in the least jealous of Robert Pattinson. Why would the king fear the court jester? Why indeed.

Oh Puh-leze!!! Jealous much??!!! RP is a great actor and has at such a young age already done done some brilliant parts. All George Clooney could claim fame to was ER and he was older than Rob when he did that part!!!!! Buzz Brady - you need to put your money where your mouth is!! Why don't you run a survey to find out exactly what the population think?? You are a journalist ans as such, I don't think it's fair that you should be publishing your own opnions, without even checking through facts properly I might add! This article is done in poor taste...YOU ARE A SAD EXCUSE FOR A JOURANLIST!!!!
OK. I understand..You are jealous. This is the second hateful article I've read about Rob P from you. LOL. Don't you have anything better to write about. The whole situation was all in fun and was a joke between them. You have twisted it into something negative and not true. You are really obsessed with him.
I am not quite out of steam yet so let me add. I saw both Up in the Air and Twilight New Moon this past year and enjoyed both. The only one I will buy to see more than once is Twilight New Moon. I own Twilight and have watched it probably 50 times already because the love affair between Edward and Bella is that compelling. I do not own a single George Clooney movie although I have watched most and enjoyed most. Thank goodness there is room in the acting profession for both the up and coming Rob Pattinsons of the world and the seasoned, already arrived, George Clooneys. Perhaps if Rob had Irish heritage you would not be so negative towards him. Trust me. He is no joke. He is Hollywood's future. George is hanging on to the present and really represents its past.
This was actually a joke. No one really thought George Clooney was jealous of Rob Pattinson. Where is your sense of humor? One way that Rob Pattinson is much like a George Clooney is that both like to have fun and both have a great sense of humor. I resent the implication that Rob Pattinson is simply this year's fad. Do you know anything about him at all? Have you read about him or interviewed him. He is a great guy who simply wants to keep getting better and better at his craft and he is pretty darn good already from Harry Potter to Twilight he has established himself as an excellent actor. I am far beyond my teen years and I am a new but very staunch supporter of Rob Pattinson the actor, singer, pianist, guitarist, artist. Give the kid a break. We would like some real news about Rob. Where is he now? When will he resurface in the states? What can we expect from him in the upcoming months? Will he be on the Grammy's where his songs are included on the Album from a movie up for the award this year. He presented on the Oscars last year. Will he be there again this year? This is the kind of information I would like to read. Not a comparison of old dog George with young pup Rob.
Both your bias and your ignorance is showing. Remember Me is not a "romantic comedy." It's a family drama, and if anyone is jealous, it appears to be you. You also seem to have forgotten or are just again ignorant because you failed to mention that when George Clooney was 23 he was appearing on lame TV shows like Facts of Life and Roseanne, to mention just two. A far cry from Edward Murrow and a far cry from films like Little Ashes. George didn't even attempt anything serious until he was over 35. He was very goofy looking and has only improved with age. He's got a fabulous personality, but it's ridiculous to compare him with Rob Pattinson and the only reason I can see to do it is to draw attention to yourself. Shame on you. Quit making up negative crap about celebrities to get attention, you're supposed to be journalists.
Are you serious? Comparing someone in his 50's and a 23 year old actor? Personally, I never found Clooney handsome I mean c'mon the man doesn't have a lip! And he is always swooning purposely, always trying consciously to look handsome with the way he moves his eyes or whatever. He acts the same way in all his movies. He never accepted a role where he'd look ugly coz he is daaamn vain.
goerge is famous as a lady man, and he's jealous of course because his lady fans shrink, since the pattinson era. Inmy opinion young geirge and clooney was never a great actor. They learn more, the more the get older. Lets say wiser. And pattinson in 23 years old already took very risky role. He can act. I believe in him. Not because of his good look. But he has a good future. I know by now that irish central is never say anything great about pattinson. So i think irish central artikel is just one sided/subjective. So i dont buy it.Brad pitt was never fancied by men before, but it chenged a bit the more he got older. But Goerge clooney...aarrgghh..hes just selfich one. Who thinks of a woman as an accesories and replacable. Not pattinson style. As acting wise...people look at his acting career when goerge was young...hhhmmm...not the best actor..i said....
What apallingly poor and lazy journalism Buzz Brady. The unfairness of your comnparisons between a late 40's actor with over 30 years in the busines and a newcomer has already been pointed out by others. The inclusion of the New York taxi story is just plain incompetence bordering on maliciousness. Rob Pattinson has repeatedly and publicly played down the incident, do some research check out the interviews... To criticise him for making the same film over and over again - I believe the concept you're struggling with is a 'franchise'. He plays the same character in a series of films - I guess you're also highly critical of Daniel Radcliffe for HP, Robert Downey JR for Iron Man? No? Hmmm... As far as I'm aware Remember Me has not been released yet, not even for press, so you're basing your judgement on what precisely? The title? the movie poster? the 2 minute trailer? Perhaps you should reconsider your career choice, it seems to me you specialise in 'silly articles'. But then I guess you sit back and smile as the reader numbers notch up. You were clever enough to use Rob Pattinson's name in the heading - seems you know what you're doing afterall.....
to hell with this article and reporter!!!! Rob has been in this industry for just a few years, for god's sake. Clooney is 48 and rob is 23, rob could be his son. rob is a good actor for his young age. love u rob
Rob has done other roles than "Twilight" and "Remember Me" maybe you should see some of his other films. Also, to be fair, Rob is just starting out in his career and has far less experience than Clooney. Give Rob a break and some more time to work on his craft. Watch 'Bad Mother's Handbook' and "How to Be". Oh, and go back and watch Clooney in the US TV show "Facts of Life" and "Roseanne" and tell me if you really see a 'star' in the making...
why so stupid mr brady???? comparison clooney and pattinson...it's so disproportionate.. and why have to bash pattinson with your ugly artikel???? he owe nothing to your life. shame...shame...Even clooney in his career did a stupid movie..and REMEMBER ME...r u ready saw it and could said it silly movies???? you said like u r an expert in movies things....shame...shame...(shaking head..)
Puhlease! You are comparing a 23 year old with a 48- or is he 50 now-year old actor. Let's compare the two at the same age. Clooney and Pattinson have more in common with on screen appeal as well as a great sense of humor- sounds like their co star spoke of the men's playful personalities quite well.
Please, Mr Brady. You haven't even seen Remember Me yet, and Robert has done other movies that you have obviously not bothered to see. Furthermore, you can't compare a 23 year old with a man in his 50's. Get a life!
This writer chooses to pull things from every direction to create a story about this Pattinson guy. Now Clooney is involved...no publicity like free publicity, I guess. Poor Anna Kendrick, it's sad that this movie she's in is probably only getting media attention and noteworthy buzz because of her ties to Twilight. It proves to me there is no such thing as truth in the media today. Everything is taken out of context or has a spin on it for entertainment reasons in order to benefit the writer or media outlet.
Hey buzzbrady. She was comparing their looks. And talking about the looks, Rpattz wins hands down. George was back in the day but robert is younger and more appealing right now. Im not going to click on your page anymore because of this hate seriously is getting old. Bye.
1.Me thinks I hear sour grapes. 2.Rob Pattinson is only starting out and is getting better with each additonal movie he has made. His many fans attest to how good they think he is. He works very hard at perfecting his acting and I can see his effort is paying off. 3.I would like to nominate Rob for the LAFMED award (Laughter is the Best Medicine). His interviews are very funny and that's what is going on with Clooney. They both have a great sense of humor, and trading barbs is a form of wit and humor. Apparently Buzz doesn't have a sense of humor or he would recognize that exchange for what it is. 4.And FYI, Rob didn't pretend to get hit by a taxi, it was the papz that blew that story out of proportion, do your research like a good writer should (or is that beyond you??)
Clooney isn't even good looking to me and Robert has so much talent...I don't care what anybody says, there is indeed no comparison, but only because Robert Pattinson will always be better.
Well, you know the old saying about opinions: they're like a**holes, everybody has one. This guy has exposed himself as an ignoramus who doesn't know what he's talking about and should check his facts before posting columns like this on the internet for millions of people to read. For instance: 1. Clooney didn't play Edward R. Murrow in "Good Night and Good Luck." That role was played by David Strathairn. Clooney played Murrow's friend and co-worker, Fred Friendly, as well as directed the movie. 2. Anyone who has taken the two minutes it takes to watch the trailer for "Remember Me" would know it's not, in any way, shape, or form, a "romantic comedy." 3. George Clooney has been in the business for 25 years longer than Rob Pattinson. Who is qualified to make a comparison between the two, when Pattison has made only 5-6 movies, three or four of which have been seen by very few people. I think critics should wait and see what happens in the next few years before they make this kind of judgement about Pattinson's acting ability. I personally think he nailed the character of Edward Cullen, and that's why these movies are so appealing to so many people of all ages and genders.
buzz brady again?? well what do you expect, somebody who rides into RPATZ stardom, someone who would write about RPATZ so a lot of somebody will read his writtings.. Just to remind you, EVERY CELEBRITY started out as an AMATEUR. Clooney on the other hand did'nt start as SUPER CELEBRITY that auutomatically makes HIM SUPER FAMOUS. He works his way IN HOLLYWOOD and, THE AGE and HIS POSITION proves it.. Robert Pattinson IS STARTING OUT. But look at where he is now? even Clooney is a bit jealous..Any of you understand my point.. Yup, Twilight is a HIT.. why?? it's because the CASTS are True to themselves and CAN ACTUALLY ACT.. If not, how come mos FANS are into it if they are not effectively delivering their CHARACTERS? BUZZ,SHUT UP.. Oh, it's the only decent job you have..har har..
Rob fans, just stop clicking on this man's stories. He's always writing these rubbish stories just so he can get hits. Don't give it to him.
Just shut up. Rob is less than half the age of George and yet he has made an impact enough for him to notice being fairly new to the scene. Please learn to appreciate what he has achieved. This hating is getting seriously old now...
Oh get over yourself already - I have yet to read a positive comment from this part of the media world. Aren't we being a little judgemental????
Since when Remember me is 'silly' and 'romantic' 'comedy'?
