Saoirse Ronan may play elf in ‘Artemis Fowl’ movie
Saoirse Ronan, who is on screens now playing a teenage assassin in ‘Hannah,’ may be up for a role in the adaptation of ‘Artemis Fowl.’
Eoin Colfer, the author of the Irish teen fantasy novel, revealed last week that he wants the actress to play the role of Captain Holly Short, the first female elf of the highly elite LEPrecon division, kidnapped by Artemis Fowl in the first book of the series.
The Wexford writer co-wrote the script for the film version with Oscar-winning director Jim Sheridan. Miramax, Disney and Tribeca Film are behind the movie.
According to the Independent, news got out in February that Saorise was meeting with Sheridan about a movie. However, production has been delayed because Hollywood producers are unsure of the format of the movie.
"Jim is in LA, trying to get it unblocked," said Colfer.
