Gabrielle Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly appear on the latest copy of People magazine.

The cover photograph was retweeted by @RepGiffordsFans and by @thedailybeast on Thursday.

The Democratic Congress woman sustained serious brain injuries in the Tucson shootings last January 8 where a gunman opened fire at a crowd while she was giving a talk. Six died as a result of the attack which left Giffords severely wounded.

Giffords gave her first interview since the horrific shooting to ABC's Diane Sawyer. The prime time special is due to air this coming Sunday November 14.

According to the Assciated Press Giffords has vowed to return to Congress in her upcoming book she said “"I will get stronger. I will return."

Written mostly by her husband retired astronaut Mark Kelly. "Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope" is due for release next week.
