According to the experts at Guinness, they are the only major brewer to roast their own barley. The flavors that come from this roast are central to their stouts and porters. In this video, Guinness brewers discuss barley roasting and its importance to the character of our beer, most notably Guinness Draught Stout.
Participants in the discussion include production brewers from Brew House 4 (only our fourth brew house since 1759) and experimental brewers from The Brewers Project at St. James's Gate — these are the brewers charged with inventing the next generation of Guinness beers.
