Sligo celebrates The Gathering with folk, roots and indie festival

Irish band the Villagers to play at The Gathering's Sligo Live

The Sligo Sessions feature world class musicians playing informally in free programmed sessions throughout the weekend. For many this is the highlight of their Sligo Live and opportunities abound for visiting musicians to join in and enjoy the fleadh-like atmosphere in Sligo.

All this and an intimate concert by Tony De Marco and Seamie O’Dowd, Leonard Barry’s and Shane McAleer’s album launches, nightly festival club sessions together with club main and acoustic stages makes for a festival like on other in Ireland. Over 80 performances in six days with music under almost every roof in  Sligo.

Sligo Live is now widely considered to be Ireland’s premiere folk, roots and Indie festival, bringing together established Irish and international acts like IMELDA MAY, VILLAGERS and MIDLAKE, with with many more best emerging artists to be announced over the coming weeks. This Gathering is the ninth year of the festival and each year it grows from strength to strength appealing to ever greater numbers of both Irish and International fans.
