The Academy Award-winning actress, Patricia Neal, has died at the age of 84. Her cause of death remains unknown.

Neal’s private life was best known her ability to triumph over adversity. The actress continued to act after suffering a stroke. In her home town of Knoxville, Tennessee, a center that helps people recover from strokes and brain injuries, bears her name.

They released this statement: “The theatre and movie world has lost a great talent but, at the Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center, we have also lost a friend.”

It continued "Ms. Neal took great joy in meeting patients and their caregivers every time she visited Knoxville…We will always remember her elegance and sincerity. She will be greatly missed."

 Her most famous role was that of Alma in “Hud”. She played a housekeeper not taken in by Paul Newman’s cowboy charms. This role earned her an Academy Award.

Shortly after winning her Oscar she suffered three strokes back to back. However she returned to the screen in “The Subject was Roses”.
