Irish-American actor Mark Wahlberg was rushed to a Boston hospital after suffering smoke inhalation on the set of his new film “The Fighter.”

Wahlberg was filming a scene for the David O. Russell-directed new biopic about boxing legend “Irish” Micky Ward when he breathed in too much smoke from a machine being used on set for atmosphere.

An insider told Radar Online: “When he woke up the next morning he was gasping for breath so he was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was put on a breathing device that helped clear his lungs."

The 38-year-old was released and returned to work the same day.

Wahlberg, who was recently married to longtime love Rhea Durham, stars in “The Fighter” alongside Christian Bale and Amy Adams.

The biopic tells the life story of light welterweight Micky Ward (Wahlberg) and his half brother, Dicky Eukland (Bale). Melissa Leo will play Ward and Eukland’s mother, while Adams will portray Ward’s tough as nails girlfriend.
