Irish actor Cillian Murphy is in Wales this week shooting a psychological thriller “Retreat” alongside Thandie Newton and Jamie Bell.

Irish production company Ripple World Pictures are shooting the movie in co-production with the U.K.’s Magnet Films. “

According to Deadline, Murphy and Newton will play a husband and wife who rent a remote island cottage while trying to repair their marriage. One day they find a biohazard-suited soldier washed up on the beach, who warns them that everybody on the mainland has been killed by an airborne virus. That’s when the psychological fun-and-games begin…

The film's producer, Jacqueline Kerrin tells IFTN that she would have liked for the feature to shoot in Ireland, "We did try very hard to bring it to Ireland last year."

She explains, "But at the time it didn’t attract Irish soft funding and production costs in Ireland were unfortunately higher than in alternative locations."

Murphy already has experience with thrillers including “28 Days Later” and “Red Eye.”
