The 52-year-old TV personality is reportedly being fired from the US talk show after producers were forced to take action against her "impossibly rude" behavior.

According to TMZ, Rosie - who previously left the show in 2007 amid rumors of a spat between herself and her then co-star Barbara Walters before returning earlier this year - is said to have been ruled out of all future plans for the programme and may not even finish filming the current series.

The ABC show's bosses re-hired the comedienne along with Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace to join actress Whoopi Goldberg in hosting the series in a bid to improve ratings.

Since then, Rosie is said to have become a "malcontent" and refuses to speak to crew and cast members off-camera.

Although sources have confirmed to the gossip website that Rosie returning next season is "out of the question", a show rep recently slammed the claims as "fabricated stories".

They told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six: "This is yet another in a long line of fabricated stories. Reports of Rosie leaving are false."
