A Dublin radio DJ took to the streets and asked some elderly Irish folks to share “one golden piece of life advice…as if they were speaking to their 16-year-old self.” The results are heart-warming and moving and the footage of their faces a delight to watch.

If you don’t well up or smile watching this you’ve a heart made of stone:

Riyadh Khalaf, presenter and producer at Dublin’s Spin 103.8 put together this video which offers some really touching and profound advice. Some of their advice would make you want to sit down with them for the afternoon over a cup of tea and hear their stories.

Here are some of our favorite nuggets:

“Be kind to people. Keep your mouth shut when it’s proper to keep your mouth shut. Open your mouth when you’ve something good to say.”

“Whatever you do in life, no matter what you’re doing, would you do it if your Mam was watching.”

“The major incidences and catastrophes in your life are beyond your influence. Be it losing your job, ill health, death, anything – don’t worry!”
