Pope Francis: Would you like to see him in Dublin, in 2018?Wiki Commons

Here is how to get tickets for Pope Francis' visit to Ireland this August.

Pope Francis will visit Ireland later this year. It is the first papal visit since Pope John Paul II's historic trip to the country in 1979.

Pope Francis will be in Dublin as part of the 9th World Meeting of Families (WMOF) which will take place from the 21-26 August.

The two main events that the pontiff will attend are the 'Festival of Families' in Croke Park on August 25th, and the 'Final Mass' in Phoenix Park on August 26th.

While both of these events are free, tickets and registration are essential according to the World Meeting of Families website.

The only guaranteed way to ensure entry is to register for the three-day WOFM Congress via their website.

Booking (and paying for) a one or five day registration to the WMOF 2018 Congress ensures the opportunity to snag free tickets to the Festival of Families and the Final Mass simultaneously. Costs here vary from €33-78.

Free tickets, available here, are limited subject to availability.
