Irish people took to social media to share photos of the snowfall as the Met Office issued a snow and ice warning on November 25. The first snow fell in the western part of the country, specifically Mayo in the early hours of Saturday. The warning from the Irish weather service warning expired a few hours after the Polar Low hit.

Snow had been expected around the country but mainly fell in Connacht and Ulster. The Met Office warning had said that in addition to snow, the Polar Low would cause temperatures to fall below zero. The Irish police force also took to social media to remind the public to be careful during the freeze:


The snow and frost came just a few days after the eastern part of the country, particularly Laois had just recovered from flooding. In the town of Mountmellick, Laois, dozens were forced from their homes, reported the Leinster Express.
