Disgraceful footage shows disabled Irishman without ramp at home having to crawl out of his house

This heartbreaking video shows how an Irishman with cerebral palsy must crawl out of his house every day because there’s no ramp for his wheelchair

Angela Murphy took the footage of her son Kenneth, which shows the 27-year-old partially sighted, disabled man struggling down two concrete steps then placing himself in his wheelchair.

The Irish Sun reports that Angela has pleaded with the council to be rehoused in more suitable accommodation or for them to fit a ramp for their current home, in Larkhall, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

“I posted the video as I had simply had enough of the situation and hoped that the video would show the true reality of what Kenneth faces on a day-to-day basis,” she told the Daily Record.

“He is also partially sighted, so this makes it all the worse for him.”

Angela said she been “overwhelmed” by messages of support after posting the footage.

Local councillor Richard Nelson said he was “immediately shocked” by the video.

“I was taken aback with the limited input they have received from both social work and housing,” he said.

“No-one in this day and age should have to live like this, in my opinion.”

A South Lanarkshire Council said it knew of the family’s application for rehousing.

“The local team have now made contact with Mr Murphy and his family again to arrange to meet with them this week to continue to provide any support and assistance in this matter,” it said.
