Ed Sheeran just won two Grammys at the 2018 awards - for Best Pop Album and Best Pop Solo Performance.

The British-Irish singer didn't attend the 2018 Grammys, but he did win two of the night's big awards!

Sheeran, who already has a lot to celebrate with his recent engagement, won Best Pop Album for ÷ ("divide"), beating Coldplay, Lana Del Ray, Lady Gaga, and Kesha.

He also won Best Solo Pop Performance for his song Shape of You. Sheeran had been up for the award against Praying by Kesha, Million Reasons by Lady Gaga, What About Us by Pink, and Love So Soft by Kelly Clarkson.

Sheeran has not yet commented on his wins, but there was an immediate backlash on Twitter as fans were angry that Sheeran nabbed the award over the more intensely meaningful songs like Million Reasons and Praying.

Others saw the decision to honor Sheeran as a tone-deaf move on the music industry's part in the midst of the #MeToo and Times Up movements.

Earlier in the night, U2 gave a spectacular performance of their new song Get Out Of Your Own Way, pre-recorded last week on board a barge floating in the Hudson River in New York.
