An Irish tourism campaign will blitz U.S. television networks, newspapers and websites with ads to bring Americans back to Ireland.

The million-dollar campaign will be aired on aired on CNN, Fox News, the Golf Channel, BBC America, Discovery Science and the Travel Channel.

The New York Times, The Boston Globe and Irish publications in the U.S. will also be featured.

Niall Gibbons, Tourism Ireland chief executive, said the aim is to grow tourism from America by 2 percent in 2010.

"North America is a very important market for tourism to the island of Ireland," he said.

"We will instill a sense of urgency to encourage travel now and execute strong campaigns emphasizing the convenience and value of a holiday on the island of Ireland, as well as compelling reasons to visit."

In addition to the media blitz, there will also be a Northern Ireland campaign aimed at Scots-Irish in the Southern states.

Tourism Ireland also plans a major promotion around an upcoming "Titanic: Made in Belfast" exhibition in New York.
