According to a new survey one-third of Irish males are still living in their family homes.

The Eurostat report showed that Irish men between the ages of 25 and 34 are twice as likely to live with in their parent, compared with the rest of Europe.

The survey also showed that Irish women are the least likely in Europe to live with a partner and Irishmen are least likely to commit by the time they are 34.

Why are so many people offended/disturbed by this? I know lots of Irish men who moved out of the family home early in life, but I don't judge those who don't. It's not so much to do with "mammys", but rather: 1. House prices have been quite high here for some time 2. Renting is seen as dead-money 3. Living in the homeplace allows the guy a chance to save a deposit for his own home (see point 1) 4. Higher Education, until recently, hasn't been part of Irish culture, so money was scarce....etc....Get all the fact before being judgmental!
I hear your pain, KathleenbBerrio, but very few EVER find he guts to cut the apron strings. For some reason they are afraid of 'The Mammy' who has failed to teach them that their testicles belong to them - not her! Dating them must be bad enough but you should try doing business with the spineless wimps!
I think I've dated most of them.
Find Irish men very hesitant to make a commitment. As all men they take the path of least resistance and that means old Mam has him until she dies...then he'll discover females after his Guinness. As for Irish women not living with Irish men...why would they...let Mam pick up his dirty laundry, cook, put up with his drinking, etc. Why in the world would any thinking female want to take that s**t on?!
