Is Hillary Clinton a possible candidate for the Supreme Court vacancy left by the imminent departure of John Paul Stevens?

Speaking on "Good Morning America" today, Republican Sen. Orin Hatch of Utah added Clinton's name to the list of possible contenders,  stating that her name was definitely surfacing.

He also stated that she would have an excellent chance of being confirmed if she ran.

Clinton, a lawyer, has never expressed public interest in the job, but she would certainly be an interesting pick for President Barack Obama if he decided to go that way.

Clinton has made it clear she will not serve beyond one term as Secretary of State, and a Supreme Court position would allow her to base herself in Washington and keep a powerful job.

However, insiders say it's considered unlikely that she would go for the job.

I will Do an Alec Baldwin here... If Hillary is elected, I WILL leave the country!
hyattsville: Just because you post it twice doesn't make it true. I respect women and love them very much. My beef with hillary is her lack of character. You might turn a blind eye to her countless scandals and improprieties, but I remember. Character matters, not sex race or religion. It is the same as you calling me a racist for not liking the way obama runs our country.
Monsoonman whether you loathe her or not is really irrelevant to the fact is that she is a powerful thinker and great humanitarian. She has done a lot this year for women's rights and for global hunger. She is not intimidated by anybody. And although many of you see Bill as a hindrance to her position so many more see him as a bonus. The nuns or some other female obviously did a number on you and you just can't accept a strong woman in a leadership role.
Monsoonman your loathing of her is not really relevant here. The fact is that she is a powerful thinker and great humanitarian. She has done a lot this year for women's rights and for global hunger. She is not intimidated by anybody and World leaders respect that. And although many of you see Bill as a hindrance to her position so many more see him as a bonus.
You seem a bit at a loss, let me help. The real accomplishments under Hillarys watch so far: Our friends don't trust us and our enemies don't fear us.
OM: With all due respect can you please back up your statement with some facts behind it?:..."I think she is doing a good job as SecState."... Since when is the world a much safer/better place since hillary clinton assumed the role of secretary of state?
I'm not an Obama fan nor a Hillary one; but I think she is doing a good job as SecState. As far as being a supreme court justice, I'll echo the above that she has no judicial experience and her ego, I think, would not tolerate being one of nine justices - a junior one at that. However, I also think that Sen Hatch let the cat out of the bag.
Lets take a walk down memory lane: file-foster-cattle-arkancide-china-billing-travel-pardon....gates. Plus she has the dubious distinction of being the first, first lady to ever be criminally investigated. Yes she would be an excellent judge given all of the court experience she has had defending and obfuscating her and her husbands criminal activities.
I think her wide experience and diplomatic skills would be more productive for public good as Secretary of State. Being one of 9 Justices would dilute her impact too much.
HELL NO !!!
The White House said today that Clinton is not a candidate. She is undoubtedly extremely intelligent, with world wide respect, which makes her perfect for the position that she currently holds. Besides I don't think she has any judicial experience. I'd love to see Diane Wood get it. I think she'd be a great fit for many reasons.
PERFECT - can't bear watching that creepy crawler whose weaslying her way through this much touted ideal system that is scary scary.
Please, God help us! How did that Whitewater deal turn out? Filegate? Vincent Foster?
God help us! Wonder how much the Clinton's donated to the Obama Campaign, to get Mrs. C's name in the running!
What a NIGHTMARE this thinking is! If this Socialist, One-World agenda, creature cared anythings about OUR America, she'd show it via suicide.
