Asteroid hits, GOP dinosaurs exposed after Obama's election victory - VIDEO

The asteroid hit, the GOP looked around, and they noticed for the first time they were dinosaurs.

Even Bill O'Reilly, in his own hapless way, got the message. 'It’s not a traditional America anymore,' he lamented, meaning that he'd just noticed that people who aren't white, wealthy wasps can also vote.

Not only that, they are voting for the other guy. You can say what you like about Republicans but you can't call them stupid.

When O'Reilly says 'traditional' he means 'white' of course. So do most of his viewers.

'It makes me wonder who my fellow citizens are. I've got to be honest, I feel like I've lost touch with what the identity of America is right now. I really do,' so said Boston Republican voter Marianne Doherty to the Washington Examiner.

I expect there'll be a lot of pearl clutching like Doherty's going on in the coming months in conservative circles.

Not everyone in Republican circles wants to rub their fingers down on the fiery braille of Tuesday election bust just yet, however. Some instead are simply seeing it as a call to arms. The candidates and policies weren't conservative enough, they cry.

On his increasingly paranoid talk show Glenn Beck observed that 'the body of America is even sicker than I thought it was' and declared that he no longer knows who Americans are.

For these people, there is no help, but it's instructive to hear them debate each other in the wilderness where their divisive, bigoted rhetoric and ideologies will always lead the GOP.

A decade in the echo chamber of Fox News and Glen Beck and Sarah Palin and Sean Hannity and evangelical political focus groups like Focus on The Family and the National Organization for Marriage have led the GOP into an anti-women, anti-gay, anti-science, anti-intellectual, mirage.

Americans don't want to live in that 'traditional' mirage. The asteroid that hit the GOP on Tuesday sent them a memo too: they're dinosaurs.

For two centuries 'traditional America' has been successfully sticking it to non-traditional America, meaning people of color and women and gays. On Tuesday the bill came due. This is the brave new nation we're leaving in.

Platitudes and scraps from the table aren't going to win you the presidency ever again, gentlemen.

romney believes all whites, potential gods are going to have their own planet when they pass stocked with 30 virgins per male - not sure the female side of it. That's mormonism for you and we laugh at the muslim belief.
Mitt Romney was rejected by young voters, by minorities of every kind, and even by his home town of Belmont and his home state of Massachusetts. A total knockout. Conservatives who think it's because we're all socialists now or because he wasn't conservative enough are blind and will continue to keep losing. We don't want to live among dinosaurs in your creationist faith based unreality.
Those multi-millionaires who spent millions funding that GOP clown car could have saved themselves the cash and the heartache if they'd just paid their own taxes.
wtf Obama won because the GOP blew it, because of their lack of spine when the left wing liberals went after G W Bush they ran from him like he was a leper, hung his ass out dry big time. Here was an honest man who put the USA ahead of everything, did the right thing as he saw and let the chips fall where they will. Had the party got behind him they would be much stronger today also would have a lot more respect from people like me and mine. On the other hand look at the other party Bill Clinton disgraced the office embarrassed his family, lied to the congress (which Martha Stewart went to jail for doing) and today he is their hero. By the way get the word out the rich voted for Obama, why? Because he said tax the rich (wink, wink.) they know their tax loopholes are safe because they shell out the cash to and rub shoulders with the party. The poor voted for him, why? because he said he would tax the rich and give to the poor, but no one told the poor that only a dime on the dollar filters down to them, and most of that is squandered on fraud when it gets to them, the really down and out will stay that way while political hacks and cheaters make out like bandits.
O'Doherty, you out did yourself, this is a great article and I couldn't have said it better. In addition, 73% of American Asians voted for Obama. Many white Americans just can't wrap thier brains around the fact that this President encompasses black and white and all shades in between, has great integrity, is highly intelligent, is a great father and husband, is a fantastic leader, has a huge heart, and can sing! Is America lucky or what?
@Daddymac22, read TisEyerish, I think the sociol-political-economics classes have been taught very well. They think people are born with billions in their pockets. Except for the Rockefellers,Kennedys, and such most earn their income that you wish to steal.
Decent commentary "TisEyerish." I think we're close to being on the same page with respect to this topic. Was there a misprint on the following sentence? "We do not like capitalism...it allows major corporations, who make profits of millions or billions a year to be fairly taxed on that profit." Perhaps you meant "avoid?"
TisEyerish: "... Those of us who used to be in the middle class before the banks robbed us of our livelihood, our homes and most of our physical possessions are people who desperately want to earn a living and are unable to do so because there are simply not enough jobs to go around. We are the people who feel the rich should pay their fair share of taxes. ..." ... Agreed, and that would be what? 25% of all above $100K per family? That is what was proposed by Romney/Ryan. How about 60% of everything over $250K? That is what Obama' Goldman Sachs cabinet has proposed ... 'cause they control the Treasury and the Fed Reserve.
Who are Americans? Those of us who used to be in the middle class before the banks robbed us of our livelihood, our homes and most of our physical possessions are people who desperately want to earn a living and are unable to do so because there are simply not enough jobs to go around. We are the people who feel the rich should pay their fair share of taxes. We do not want them to "give" to us...we simply want to know that they are contributing to the government as large a percentage of their paycheck as we are...provided, of course, we are still fortunate enough to be employed. The Republicans would have you believe that we are trying to get the wealthy to surrender their wealth to those less fortunate. This is also not true. Again, we simply want them to contribute as much as we do. We do not like capitalism...it allows major corporations, who make profits of millions or billions a year to be fairly taxed on that profit. We are also still wondering why, after the bank bail-out, the CEO and other executives in the banking system were rewarded for our hardships by still collecting huge bonuses. We want a little fairness. We want to see our politicians work for US not for themselves and not for big business. This country needs a major change in the political structure...starting with a viable third political party built from the middle-class people, not from the extremely wealthy who do not have a clue what the average, every-day American thinks or feels. We would also like to see an end to the welfare system, we would like to see an end to the commercials on TV urging people to file for SSD...most of these people have no business collecting, in the first place. Give us the America that was promised by our forefathers and we will be happy.
Bravo, Cahir O'! So very well spoken - and so very accurate an analysis of the GOP! I only wish they would Rest in Peace. I have a feeling these dinosaurs will manage to have someone clone their Jurassic Park DNA - and they'll be baaaaccckkkk.....!
@BrianO: ha ha. Good lord. Take a freakin socio-political economics class, and a history one too, if you think this is socialism. So moronic.
You won, I now am hoarding my money, spending as little as possible, it is your responsibility to fund the economy now. No more charitable contributions, no more keeping small businesses open, lets see how the socialist anti constitution works.
