Isn't it high time that Susan Boyle's brother Gerry Boyle stepped out of her life?
Since she hit the big time Gerry has been an ever present in the media, acting like a Greek chorus, criticizing Susan herself at times and then all those around her.
Now he seems to have carried this too far by warning prospective boyfriends that the family will be vetting them.
Last time I looked Gerry, Susan was 49-years-old and well capable of looking after herself on romantic issues.
Gerry said to an Australian magazine that any love interests will be thoroughly checked by her family.
He said: 'Our family is very protective of Susan. Anyone coming into a circle from a romantic angle would have to go through the wringer. She becomes attached very easily to people so she has to be careful.
'I think there has to be a bit of reality in her life. I think the world realises she is fragile. She's desperately keen to be loved.'
Gerry, stop being so condescending to your sister and get over the fact that she, not you, is the superstar,
Go get a life somewhere that will take your mind off your sister and her career for a while.
She is doing great without you by the way
Susan tell him to shut up for once and for all.

I am sick of hearing about what Gerry thinks or wants in the papers. This guy is desperately seeking for attentions, he wants to control his sister's every move(her career, love life). I doubt Susan will ever listen to him anyway. I bet Susan wouldn't even tell him until she is deeply in love with someone. He might even be the last person on earth to find out about it. Get over it, Gerry, Susan doesn't need you to control her life. She is a grown up.

Where was Gerry when Susan was being bullied by teenage boys?? Where was he when she was taking care of their mother?? Why didn't he escort her to the BGT audition? Has she suddenly become fragile and helpless so he feels the need to come to her rescue at this point in her life? I heard that he even told her to quit singing when she was young because it annoyed him. So why is he so concerned now?

Please Susan tell him to pipe it.
His comments are getting annoying and Susan fans that continue to condone him is more annoying.

Maybe she has. I get the feeling that Susan doesn't let her family push her around. I'm glad however that someone in the media is taking her side and speaking out about it. I wish more would. Good for you. Everytime we look Gerry has something to say about Susan and it ususally isn't complimentary.

Put a sock in it, Gerry. Susan is a grown woman and is capable of making her own decisions. Just shut up.

Well said Amy! And it's about time somebody in the media said it too. Where was Gerry when Susan had to take 6 different buses to find the Audition site that day? Susan not fragile. She's pretty darn strong if you ask me. Plus she has a whole profession support staff, including her PA who is her neice. Beyond that, she is perfectly capable of making her own decisions.

I think susan would smile to think her big brother feels protctive of her- she probably that she is ultimately she is in control but being pampered by her family must make her feel cared for and glad that she has someone to look to in time of need- nothing like family- they are always there for you- jw

Susan has been quoted as saying "she won't be told what to do". She seems pretty savvy to me when it comes to figuring people out. Gerry's just doing what big brothers do, protecting his sister. When Susan does find the love of her life - and she will - it will be her decision and hers alone.

Gerry's concern has some merit: Think about it. It has happened in celebrity circles: a star (male or female) wooed by 'the love of their life' but deceitful gold diggers, then divorced, then huge financial settlements. Can't blame G.B. for wishing caution.

Let's face it-we don't KNOW Susan Boyle--her brothers do. We don't KNOW what they really said and in what context. I think the brothers should stop talking to the "press" to protect themselves as well as Susan since the "press" tweeks their comments to appease our incessant need for "news" about their sister.
