Rihanna kept fans waiting for hours in her first Belfast concert last night leading to sustained booing and jeering.

A sell-out crowd of 7,000 were present at the Odyssey Theater for her appearance but they were left waiting until late in the night before she decided to appear.

There was no warm up act and Scottish DJ Calvin Harris was forced to stay on stage for hours repeatedly trying to cope with an increasingly angry crowd.

Just before 10.00pm boos began to ring out as there was no sign of the Barbados-born superstar.

After another lengthy period with Rihanna a no-show the boos and jeers became much longer and uglier.

Finally Rihanna appeared in the middle of what the Belfast Telegraph reviewer called " a "giant hamster's wheel"..... surrounded by dancers dressed like Teletubbies."

Th reviewer Jonathan McCambridge stated

"The music itself was mostly forgettable, Umbrella being a noticeable exception."

He called the wait "unforgivable."

Rihanna courted controversy earlier this week in Northern Ireland when she posed nearly nude for a music video in a wheat field. Alan Graham,the farmer who owned the land, objected

Whitebirtch, in the 80's, in Chicago, for a concert with Clancy & Makem, my daughter, then about 5, and I were escorted backstage, at their Manager's request, Jimmy O'Neill, Daughter Teri and I had a very nice meeting with Liam and Tommy. They both picked her up and sung to her and signed a record album of theirs for us.

The dear girl must remember that she was not in New York or Chicago where often this behavior is tolerated, but abroad. Surely she has advisors who would show her protocol.

This is very common with these "show biz" types. I remember back in the 1980's waiting for the Clancy Bros. to arrive at an Irish Pub in the Catskills, in upper New York State. Hours late, they quickly set up, had the time to tell all of us no Photos, no talking to us after the show as they had "other" places to be! I had no respect for any of the Clancys' after that. F. As I've mentioned previously, I find Rihanna's arrogant, self-serving, narcissistic behaviour repugnant. She has no real talent and if I had been at that concert I would've DEMANDED my money back. I always remember Bono saying that if any fan was not happy with a U2 concert, to demand their money back. Well, Rihanna is a 20-something arrogant little b**ch who deserves to be booed off the stage and have the crowd yell: "WE DEMAND A REFUND!" To be honest, I'm surprised the Belfast fans didn't speak up...it's still not too late!

Well I don't Idol any of them. I have to say the reason Susan Boyle is so loved the world over is she loves what she is doing and she don't have to undress to get people’s attention. But one thing I remember is going to an open air concert for Wynona Judd and she was late coming onstage. About an hour of people waiting someone came on stage and said she will be late because she could not find her small dog. And if anyone should find it they would get a back stage pass to personally see Wynona. Well about 50 guys got up from the crowd and went out to the parking lot to ride around the back of the arena looking for the dog. You could see them still searching with their headlights on while Wynona performed. She didn’t tell us she found the dog or not . or even say thank you to all who got up to look. As we were on our way home we listened to the radio show that was talking about her show and a caller called in to ask if she ever found her dog. They said, yes it was under her covers on the bed.WTF!!! All those people missed her concert looking and she didn’t give a rats a$$. These people only care for themselves. Look at Maria canary. She went to London and she wanted one hundred security guards for her dog alone. Maybe if we stop catering to these people. Go to YouTube and listen to some of really great singers that are normal people. There are some fantastic singers / songwriters out there.

Celebrities who arrive more than 20 minutes late should be fined three times the fee for the concert. And not allowed to go naked or semi-naked in public for 5 years.
