Lady Gaga used a tricolor flag during her routine on Saturday night at Belfast's Oddessy arena much to the dismay of her fans.

Up to 10,000 revelers packed the arena for the Poker Face star's Halloween show, which was one of three Gaga was performing in Northern Ireland as part of her Monster Ball Tour.

However when the award winning pop star pulled out a Republic of Ireland’s green, white and orange flag during the show, fans were none too impressed.

One fan said a lot of audience members were uneasy: “A lot of people were not impressed and there was a bit of unease in the crowd.

“Some people were making comments and others challenging them,” she told the Belfast Telegraph.

“It didn’t spill over but I certainly think the atmosphere suffered after that as a result.”

Another fan said: “I just felt it was inappropriate, but maybe she didn’t realise Northern Ireland is separate from the Republic.”

Gaga made no reference to the flag during her performance but instead used it as a prop.

Silly Gaga, check your geography before whipping out flags!

loving prev poster phrase the sun never set on the British Empire because "Even God wouldn't trust the basktards in the dark".
the sun never set on the British Empire because "Even God wouldn't trust the basktards in the dark".
anti-irish andrews doesn't consider most of ulster part of Ireland? why does she have a blog on this site???
Georgwe Dillon 'See writers like Maria Edgeworth and William Carleton for examples of this primitive patois.' Maria Edgeworth's works captured the talent and wit of the Irish lower classes. She examined the relationships between the Iirsh and the English, in other words she introduced the ignorant English to the quirks and turns of English as spoken by the Irish during the period of the act of Union. Carelton did likewise but he aileniated himself to many Irish when he described himself as the "historian of their habits and manners, their feelings, their prejudices, their superstitions and their crimes" Later unlike Carelton, Sommerville And Ross explored the traits and humour of the Irish as well(much like Edgeworth). But neither Edgeworth nor Carleton produced or even attempted to produce evidence that the Irish Nation deliberately abondoned its native tounge or that 'Countless Irish parents in the nineteenth century and earlier made the decision not to speak Irish to their children...'. The way the Irish spoke the English language in the 19th century and how we speak it today is more a case of we Irish taking poetic revenge on the English by taking their language turning it upside down, inside out and transforming it into an art form and then throwing it back in their faces.
Rather a faded Italian flag than the butchers apron.
When it comes to flags...the Union Jack is the best... The tricolor just looks like a faded Italian flag...
seanmelbourne...God Save the Queen... seanmelbourne...aka roo shagger...
Just the fact how hot and bothered it make you people is enough for me. Somebody in the crowd handed it to her. Half of the six counties is Irish anyway.
Amy should close her mouth - her brain is in a draught. You miss the point of the dramatic irony of wonderful Gaga's performance: "Halloween" - or what ever you like to call it,welcomes all the desparing spirits and lost souls back to their dark, cold half of the year, full of pain and fear. I am sure they will appreciate her showing the way to their Realm? The Irish Tricolour is a perfect signpost for the task. Do you get it now,lads?...No? ... Lookit: " Hell This Way ... Just Follow the Sign!...................... Btw... does Gaga not already have a flagpole?!
Silly mealy mouthed Amy Andrews. Maybe Lady Gaga knew exactly what she was doing. "Eireann go Bragh a daoine uasal" Up yours downinthebasement.
Ironbed: "our native language was almost obliterated by the British save for a few isloted pockets of the country"----That's pure garbage. It was the IRISH who stopped speaking Irish, not the British. Countless Irish parents in the nineteenth century and earlier made the decision not to speak Irish to their children, instead they spoke some weird half-learned version of English, full of grammar mistakes and Irish Bulls. (See writers like Maria Edgeworth and William Carleton for examples of this primitive patois). It's very unusual for a people to abandon its own language, and I am not sure whether that particular pathology explains why the Irish today are so servile and unoriginal, or whether the fact they were already servile and liked to ape the English brought them to rush to dump the language of countless generations. I guess it's the old chicken and ubh--which caused what?
i don't like lady gaga i think she is an atention seeking weirdo who did this just to be controversial but i have to admit i don't hate her as much anymore
There is an all-Irish speaking school in every county in Ireland. They score higher on tests, including ones on English literature, and within a generation they'll be everywhere, less abashed at talking the secret language in public.
downinthebasement: What other language could I have used? Given that our native language was almost obliterated by the British save for a few isloted pockets of the country, and as sirpeter said, chill out it is a funny quote.
Using any flag as a prop is disrespectfull!I know Americans have used their flag often as a prop and would say lighten-up. Bono also has used the Irish Flag as a prop , however I was taught that the flag is not just a cloth rag but represents a Nation and it's people .Lady Gaga laying back with it stuck between her legs was not ment as a show of respect!I am a nationalist that wishes to tell any Unionist out there that if you rather her use (or should I say: miss-Use) the Union Flag ,you need your head seen to!
