Kristen Stewart played a significant role in choosing Robert Pattinson as her love interest in the “Twilight” saga, Catherine Hardwicke, the director of the first film recently revealed to Access Hollywood.

“I want my leading ladies to be involved in that because they’re the people that are actually going to be there and you want those real sparks and you want that real chemistry on some level, instead of having to fake it, or create it, or edit it around it,” the director revealed.

After the final four male leads had auditioned Kristen knew which was most suited to play her leading role.

“I brought the four guys that I thought were the best and she had to make out with them or do four different scenes with them and at the end of those two days she said, ‘It’s gotta be Rob’” Hardwicke said.

“I thought he could have been very good in that role… (but) he was beat out by Rob because Rob and Kristen they just had that chemistry,” she told AccessHollywood.

Considering Kristen was only 17 at the time, Hardwicke feel the need to remind Pattinson , that his love interest was still a minor.

“I don’t now what the laws were in England and so I just wanted to be sure he knew that we did have a law here,” she revealed.
