Celtic came crashing down to earth when they were held to a 1-1 draw by St. Johnstone – days after a famous 2-1 win over Barcelona in the Champions League.

Teenager Tony Watt guaranteed himself a place in the Parkhead history books with the winner against Barca on Wednesday night of last week.

The youngster then got on the score sheet again with the opening goal against the Saints before Nigel Hasselbaink leveled in the 76th minute.

The result leaves Celtic with just two points from their last three games and two points behind Pat Fenlon’s Hibs at the top of the Scottish League.

But Lennon, hugely impressed by his team’s performance against Barcelona, refuses to panic about his team’s league form.

The Ulsterman said, “I have been in worse positions than this. We are two points behind with a game in hand and if we win the game in hand we are top of the league.

“Last year we were 15 points behind. There was a flatness and lethargy but that’s the amount of games catching up

“We have played considerably more games than any other team in the league, nine or 10 more and we are only into November.

“After the Champions League group stages are over and we get a month or two of week-to-week football I think you will see the team become consistent and play with more energy.”

Welsh midfielder Joe Ledley was still in shock at the Barcelona result days after the Celtic win.

Ledley said, “I went home after the game and sat with the family and it didn’t really sink in.

“I watched it on television but you still can’t believe that we have done it. It will take a couple of days, but it was a fantastic achievement.

“Obviously we don’t want to put too much pressure on ourselves but not many people would have thought we would have been in this position but we are and we deserve to be.”
