Having spectacularly won the US Open last Sunday Rory McIlroy has rejected the idea that he plans to join the PGA Tour in the near future. McIlroy has now won two events on the PGA Tour, and he has a five year exemption to join the tour at will.

On Twitter, McIlroy said: “I don’t think I will join (the PGA) tour in the next few years anyway.”

Speaking in a press conference after his big win last week, he said: “I’m never going to leave the European tour.”

However, speaking at his home club in Holywood, County Down, he said that he intends on winning next month’s British Open and at the US PGA Championship in Georgia.

He said: “I feel if I can keep this form up to the end of the summer I have a good chance at the next two majors…The form I showed last week was great and I think it's a lot to do with the hard work I have put in over the past few months."
