Rory McIlroy will go head to head with Irish American Keegan Bradley as Europe bid to drag the Ryder Cup from American hands at Medinah on Sunday afternoon.

The Ulsterman and partner Ian Poulter kept European hopes alive as they somehow scored a win over Jason Duffner and Zach Johnson on Saturday.
Poulter was the hero as he produced five birdies in the final five holes to snatch a point for Europe and help reduce America’s lead to four points, 10-6, going into the singles on Sunday.

“We needed something special out there and Ian provided it,” said McIlroy as Europe salvaged something from the opening two days.

“When Ian gets that look in his eyes it’s really impressive. It was incredible making that run like we did.

“It is going to be a huge task now to keep the Ryder Cup on Sunday but we are up for it.”
Poulter said: “We needed to get something going. We had to make birdies and wow - five in a row. It was awesome.

“I had the world number one backing me up and it allowed me to hit some shots.”

Bradley and McIlroy will be third up in the singles on Sunday with Graeme McDowell up against Zach Johnson.
