It's been a remarkable week for Irish golfer Rory McIlroy. This week he achieved a career-best sixth place in the latest world rankings, edging ahead of the legendary Tiger Woods for the first time.

The 21-year-old Irishman and the 14-times major winner Woods swapped places in the world standings after a week in which neither actually played.

McIlroy will be back in action on Thursday defending his title at the Wells Fargo Championship in North Carolina, but Woods will miss the tournament due to injury.

McIlroy won it in 2010 - his first victory on the PGA Tour - when the event was known as the Quail Hollow Championship.
