The Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team have made a gesture of support to Boston following the bombings and violent shootout during the past week. So far these horrific acts of violents have cost four people their lives and injured hundreds of others.

Head coach Brian Kelly tweeted a photos of the Notre Dame golden helmet bearing a clover with a Boston Red Sox-style “B” inside, colored blue and yellow to match the “Boston strong” ribbons.

This is an especially nice nod to Bostonians from the Fighting Irish due to the Holy War between the Notre Dame and Boston College which the two teams together once every two years. It’s hardly a surprise that that Notre Dame have such a strong following in the heavily Irish city.

Small kind gestures of solidarity for Boston have been seen throughout the sports world this week like the New York Yankees playing “Sweet Caroline” at their first game after the tragedy and draping the stadium in support banners.
