Lar Corbett announces his return to the Tipperary hurling squad

Tipperary GAA star Lar Corbett

Goal machine Lar Corbett is back with the Tipperary hurling squad – just three months after retiring from the inter-county game.

The Thurles publican cited work commitments as the reason behind his shock retirement earlier this year.

Now the 2010 Hurler of the Year has changed his mind and will return to training with Declan Ryan’s squad on Tuesday night.

Tipperary legend Nicky English is believed to have played a major role in persuading Corbett to return ahead of the Munster Championship campaign.

A statement from the Tipperary County Board said: “Tipp manager Declan Ryan and Tipperary County Board are pleased to announce the return of Lar Corbett to the Tipp SH panel.

“Over the last few months Lar has been heavily involved in developing his business activities and is now once again in a position to give the necessary commitment to being a member of the panel.
“Lar will recommence training with the panel immediately.”

Tipperary open their Munster SHC bid against Limerick at the end of the month.

All-Ireland champions Kilkenny have also received a boost after star attacker Henry Shefflin made his return after a shoulder injury in a club game with Ballyhale Shamrocks over the weekend.
