Robbie Keane’s move to the LA Galaxy is alive and kicking according to sources in London – and it won’t affect his Ireland career.

The American club has refused to confirm reports that they are in talks over a two-year $9m deal for the Irish captain.

But sources close to Keane have made it clear that his representatives are in talks with the side coached by former USA manager Bruce Arena.

Galaxy bosses are apparently ready to offload Juan Pablo Angel to facilitate the arrival of Keane as David Beckham’s new team-mate.

And Irish boss Giovanni Trapattoni will not stand in the way of any deal for his captain, insisting that regular first team football is his only wish for his top scorer.

Asked about a move for Keane, a spokesman for the Galaxy said in a statement: “We are always looking to improve our squad and have contacted or been contacted by a host of players during the current transfer window.

“As soon as we have something confirmed in regards to any potential player acquisitions we will be sure to alert everyone.”

Keane made it clear in Dublin this week that he willleave Spurs before the transfer window closes on August 31st.

Reports that he is already on his way to Los Angeles for a medical appear wide of the mark.

The Galaxy play the Red Bulls in New York on August 28th in a game that could mark Keane’s debut if he signs for the MLS side.
