Lansdowne Bhoys had another early start on Sunday 16th at home in Tibbets park but it was worth it as they came away with a win.

The boys second team were out at 9am on the sunny Sunday morning against Pancyprian Freedom. For the second week in a row the team came away with a win. Yapi was the only goalscoroer of the match. The game finished 1-0.

Lansdowne's first team followed with their game kicking off at 11am, hoping to keep the winning rolling.

Possesion was equally divided between the teams throughout the first half, with both having minor attempts on goal. Lansdowne's closest shot came on goal 25 minutes in when Austin Friel gave a cross in to find Papa Thioume. He had a one on one with the keeper before putting the ball wide. Pancyprian had an off side goal 15 minutes before half time, followed shortly by another chance from Lansdowne  with a run from Sean Purcell, crossing the ball to Austin Friel but Friel failed to find the net.

Although the Bhoys had no luck on goal, they continued to keep their passing tight with some nice flicks and touches between lively feet.

Papa Thioume continued to threaten briefly either side of half time.

In the second half the lads struggled to find the net, and seamed to not be able to find anyone up front. Frustration continued when Shay Whelan was given a yellow card after a case of mistaken identity for a tackle, followed by Hadji Diop receiving his second yellow card and sent off for a collision with a player from the opposition.

It appeared that once the boys were down a player, they stepped up their game. The usual back line- Declan Reilly, Jean Phillipe and Craig Purcell displayed some nice work denying Pancyprian of any shot on goal.

From defense, through the middle to up front the lads kept the engines rolling until Thioume got the goal for Lansdowne which was long over due. He rattled the net, after a movement which was almost a carbon copy of his chance on goal in the first half, 40 minutes into the second half.

The game finished up 1-0 to Lansdowne Bhoys, earning Austin Friel his first win of the season as manager to the first team.

No rest for these Bhoys, as they'll be back again next Sunday at home again in Tibbet's park at the later time of 6pm against newly promoted team, Hoboken.
