For the first time since fall camp in the 2007 season there was a battle this year for the position of quarterback on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish team. Thankfully second-year coach Brian Kelly put us out of our misery this week choosing Dayne Crist over Everett Golson, Andrew Hendrix and Tommy Rees.
All information so far points to the face that Kelly has made the prudent choice. Out of all the quarterbacks on the roster he is certainly the most experienced.
Although his 4-5 record last year isn’t really inspiring it was his first year as a starter and now he has a season of experience under his belt.
In the past, according to Bleacher Report, Crist has said that he is more comfortable in the offense as he knows what to expect from his coaches. His improved relationship with Kelly should help this season.
This season Crist will also have expert protection from a veteran offensive line.
He’s also going to have Michael Floyd as a receiving threat.
It seems that this young quarterback could be ready to live up to Notre Dame fans expectations.
