The second annual Scranton Celtic Festival is set to kick off on the weekend of Saturday May 18, at Montage Mountain. The Celtic Festival Committee is looking to build on last year’s success and bring another weekend filled with Irish fun to NEPA.
The festival website enthuses, “The inaugural Scranton Celtic Festival was a great success! Building on that foundation our team is hard at work creating a bigger, more exciting event for 2013. Enjoy live entertainment featuring local and national acts, shop over 20 vendors offering an assortment of imported Celtic wares, and taste everything from authentic Irish foods to traditional American fare.”
The festival includes plenty of entertainment from bands, bagpipers and Irish set dancers including: The Canny Brothers, The Dady Brothers, The Hooley Boys, The Irish Balladeers, Derek Warfield & the Young Wolfe Tones, Kilmaine Saints, Seamus Kennedy, Timlin & Kane, The Wyoming Valley Pipe & Drum Band, and The Gallagher School of Irish Dancing.
There will also be over 30 vendors from all over the country serving food, drinks, and Irish themed products. The Banko Beer Truck will be there to cater to the over 21 crowd. In addition to that, there will be rugby classes, zip line rides, face painting and many other activities to entertain the kids.
It promises to be an enjoyable weekend for family and friends.
Our culture and traditions are an integral part of our identity and this community event is a showcase of the rich Celtic history of North East Pennsylvania.
Join us at Sno Cove on Montage Mountain on Saturday May 18 from 11am to 10pm and Sunday May 19 from 11am until 7pm.
