St. Patrick is Ireland's most famous patron saint. Though he's not technically Irish (he's Welsh), he single-handedly brought Christianity to Ireland, and supposedly drove the snakes out of the country (really, though, he just converted the pagans). He's celebrated every March 17, ironically with a day of drinking and debauchery.
