Most B&B’s in Ireland are modest three-to-six bedroom homes where visitors enjoy home cooked treats as well as a hearty Irish breakfast to get you started in the morning. Proprietors have an expert knowledge of the area and are always willing to advice their customers on anything from restaurants to finding the best pint of Guinness.

The B&B Ireland Guide Book offers a full directory of names, addresses, contact details, facilities and descriptions of all their B&B’s. A digital version of the guide book is also available click here to download.

I had my first bad experience with an Irish B&B when I was in Dublin last October. Suggest only going to a B&B in Ireland where the owner lives at the B&B. The B&B I stayed at in Dublin last Oct was a stone's throw from the RTE studios but I could get RTE to the TV in this B&B!
I stayed for a month in Ryans Daughter B&b in Thurles ,,Tipperary ,,, my host and owner Gary Roche treated me like family ,very comfortable indeed ,food fantastic ,also a Restaurant ,,,,great staff ,, very local which was all i needed how much time do you need to spend indoor anyway ,,if you are ever in Thurles give it a try
WE STAYED IN SOME BEAUTIFUL B & B'S AND A COUPLE THAT WERE ORDINARY, BUT THEY WERE ALL REASONABLE AND RUN BY FRIENDLY HOSTS. A VERY NICE ONE WAS NEAR SHANNON AIRPORT, CALLED OF COURSE, AIRPORT B & B - HANDY IF YOU ARE FLYING OUT OF SHANNON.
Irish B&Bs are not like U.S. B&Bs. In the U.S. they are romantic places at $125 and up. In Ireland they are everywhere and are everything from an extra bedroom & sharing a bathroom with the kids to a tiny hotel-type place. Most are €35 per person, which includes a breakfast that will keep you going past lunchtime. (of course they can be a little less or quite a bit more than this) It could be a house in the center of town, a peaceful farmhouse or even a castle. There is one in Dublin with infrared saunas in each room. In another, I opened the curtain of the small bathroom window, still half asleep and nearly fell over the toilet - there was a cow staring back at me. (those heads are big up close). We stayed in a room that used to be the boys' classroom at an old schoolhouse in Sligo. We stayed in a castle in Cahir that was gorgeous to come back to. Every place is different and you never know what you'll experience!
We stayed in B & B's for each of our three trips to Ireland. In a purpose built B & B/ guesthouse, you have the best of both worlds-- an Irish host and fantastic beds and bathrooms!
We did B&Bs on both of our trips to Ireland and they were fantastic - got to meet some very nice people.
