The Irish were treated no differently in Boston than other immigrants then or immigrants in the US today. There were many jobs available to them in manufacturing and the mills It was a center for international trade. The railroads were a boom to Boston and provided many additional jobsw as well. John Phillips was the first Boston born Mayor of Boston 1822.
Joseph P. Kennedy was John F. Kennedy's father, not his grandfather, and was Ambassador to Britain which he enjoyed bery much. Connections in England by Joseph P. Kennedy were used by Caroline Kennedy who lived in London and was nearly blown up by the IRA.
Joe Kennedy was John Kennedy's father. His grandfather was not the American Ambassador to England.
